Red lipstick is like the stiletto heel of the make up. Every woman owns at least one tube of red lipstick in her make up bad. Red lipstick is like glamour in a tube. There’s just something about red lipstick that can make a woman feel sexy and classy at the same time. It has yet to go out of style. Celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera are known for their wearing of red lipstick. Women started wearing red lipstick more in the 1920’s with the flapper girls. In the 1930’s and 40’s red lipstick was more associated with the idea of adult sexuality and prostitution. It wasn’t until the 1950’s when the arrival of actresses Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor that red lipstick became sexy again. The one thing that is so appealing about red lipstick is that it so easy to wear and anyone can pull it off. The trick is to know what colours suit your hair and skin colour
The Jeremy Kyle show is another example of a television show that is so bad it’s good. It has been on our screens since 2005. The show was first used as a replacement for the Trisha Goddard Show when it moved to Channel 5. The show is based on confrontations where the guests attempt to resolve conflict with someone significant in their lives. Jeremy often shouts at the guests who he thinks have been irresponsible in some ways. The issues that are often thrashed out infront of millions are family, sex, drugs, relationships, alcohol and other issues. Not many of the guests are that attractive either. They are often stereotyped as working class, ignorant and being ‘chavs’
Aberystwyth University student halls are bursting at the seams. They have taken in more students than they can accomodate for. Their solution? Put in bunk beds into some of rooms. This not only rises the amount of people in each flat/house but it also raises the amount of money the University is getting. It’s ridiculous. The bunk rooms aren’t like the twin rooms. Twin rooms have two of everything whereas the bunk rooms don’t. A bunk room only has one desk and one wardrobe. Also the fact that you won’t know who you are living with til you get there is a bit nerve-racking because if you get a bad roommate then your first year of uni won’t be as enjoyable.
Nowadays it seems like we can’t turn on the TV without seeing an advert for a talent show. Since Pop Idol burst on our screens in 2001 it seems like the British public have become obsessed with these type of shows. Even though they claim to all have different formats, they all have certain elements. Usually they have 4 judges, a rather judgemental audience and a sob story to help them become appealing to the judges. Seems like you can’t get through one of these competitions without having a sob story
Following in the footsteps of Instagram came Pinterest. It is a pinboard style photo-sharing website that enables users to create photo collections and share them with other users. Users are able to browse through other pinboards, ‘re pin’ images onto their pinboards and also like images. Pinterest allows it users to share their ‘pins’ via Twitter and Facebook. There is also a Pinterest mobile app launched in September 2011 and there is also currently a Pinterest iPhone app in development.
Celebrities nowadays are not just famous for one thing. They often branch into other ways of making money. Seems they aren’t satisfied with just having their 15 minutes of fame. There are hundreds of celebrity autobiographies, celebrity fragrances, children’s books etc. Nowadays no business is safe from the claws of a celebrity. The only reason most of it sells is because its got a celebrities’ name on it. It seems that every single celebrity these days has a fragrance that they have bad. It’s almost as if you don’t become a proper celebrity until you have released a fragrance. Even now celebrities are still jumping on this bandwagon with Madonna, Nicki Minaj and Selena Gomez.
Retail therapy to most women is heaven. Trying on pretty clothes and admiring yourself in the mirror. Is there a downside to such heaven? Ah yes unfortunately there is. That downside is finding a bra that actually fits properly. How many of you have gone into the lingerie fitting rooms with many bras that are labelled your size only to come to find out that many of them do not fit and often find just one or sometimes none that fit?
