Purple Rain

Rich jewel hues are all the rage for Autumn/Winter 2012. I absolutely love the colour purple and this autumn the shops will be filled with dresses, shoes, bags etc in this beautiful colour. “From the satiny rich silhouette of Armani Priveto power-hungry retro prints of Prada, purple has suddenly gone from being one of many elegant cocktail colours to the colour of collections,” says Latha Sunadh, stylist and editor of a fashion portal.

Purple looks good in small or large doses. Whether you wear a purple dress or purple denim it will still look on trend without going overboard

In Your Wardrobe:

  • Pair an all purple outfit with tangerine accessories to really stand out from the crowd
  • Slipping on a pair of purple heels with a t-shirt and jeans will give a pop of colour without being too in your face
  • Wear a statement necklace in a shade of purple with a simple dress
  • The own downside to purple is that it can make you look plumper than you are but fear not! Heavier girls should stick to purple printed satin dresses; they are the perfect look-slimmer trick.

On Your Face

Amethyst colours on the eyes and lips are huge this autumn. “Metallic purple works better than jaded black if you want a mysterious gothic look. I suggest blending purple with blue or pink for a smokey effect. Don’t smudge the colour. You’ll look like you have a black eye!” says celebrity make-up artist Clint Fernandes.

Here’s a few of my favourite pieces on the high street:

New Look – £24.99

Wallis – £45

Boohoo – £22
